Candy Land
by Ginger Marin
I traveled down a long, long road
to a land far away.
Over bright green hills,
through yellow fields,
where children like to play.
There were jellybean rocks
and gumdrop trees
and ribboned paths galore.
Windmills turned like funny clocks,
and colored balloons did soar.
A choo-choo train came 'round the bend.
A carousel played tunes.
Chocolate fountains graced the park.
The flowers were all in bloom!
I wish I lived there all year long,
this Candy Land of mine.
The children sing and dance all day,
sheer joy like summer time.
So when I think that no one cares,
or when I'm truly sad,
I take that trip to Candy Land,
where nothing's ever bad.
You too can take that long, long road.
It's not that far away.
Over bright green hills,
through yellow fields,
where children always play.
It's easy if you close your eyes
and fall asleep so deep.
To dream sweet dreams,
of pleasant things,
It's just like counting sheep!
